Rivian is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support electrical integration for its electric vehicles. This role focuses on integrating PCBs and press-fit components into actuation systems, analyzing mechanical and thermal failure modes, and developing and validating robust designs.
Responsibilities
- Integrate PCBs, press-fit components, thermal materials, and conformal coatings into actuation systems.
- Analyze mechanical failure modes involving deflection, temperature, contamination, and humidity.
- Create 3D models and engineering drawings.
- Develop and execute design verification plans and reports (DVP&R) and DFMEAs.
- Lead prototyping, design iteration, and validation activities.
- Coordinate validation with Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field with 3+ years of experience, or a master’s degree with 1+ years.
- Experience with mechanical and thermal PCB integration and PCB/IC failure modes.
- Proficiency in 3D/2D CAD, preferably CATIA V5/V6.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Familiarity with PLM systems, BOM structures, engineering changes, and deviation processes.
- Strong first-principles approach to problem solving.
Compensation and Benefits
California salary range: $107,800–$134,800, with actual compensation based on experience and other factors permitted by law. Rivian offers medical, prescription, dental, and vision coverage for eligible full-time employees and their dependents, effective on the first day of employment.
